It's a snippet from a documentary that shows Bowie (and other artists) way of working.
Here is the clip and this is the documentary DVD it came from.

How about 'Tired of My Life' and 'How Lucky You Are'? Is the concensus about TOML that it's a 1970 recording? How about HLYA? 1971?
cheers

How Lucky You Are is included in the list (between Lightning Frightening and Looking For A Friend), but you seem to be right about the omission of Tired Of My Life which i didn't spot in this or the third anthology (there could be an argument for it being an alternate version of It's No Game, but i wouldn't make that claim). and yes, i think 1970, probably recorded at Haddon Hall.
What is that "tired of my life"? it that acetate.. home made?? Do you have any provenance on that? no oxidization on the paper label after 40 years?

the label was placed over the original EMIdisc acetate label (which doesn't have bowie's name on it) and had come adrift, i just laid it on top for this shot. it has a waxed finish.
it can be traced back to at least 1980 (i've been having some email exchanges with another member who had his hands on this very copy) when it was sold to a dealer in london.
provenance on acetates? virtually impossible unless you were there. i can confirm sound quality easily surpasses all bootlegs and is comparable with the leaked "EMI tape" from a few years ago, so it's almost certainly direct from the master. i'm awaiting verification from chrysalis publishing that the labels and sleeve are authentic and were used in the early '70s.

Well that surprised me I actually bought this in a record shop here in Australia, although I think other unofficial cd's have slipped through the net now and again.

Hello again,
Couple more questions for y'all!
1) What's this version of White Light/White Heat? The BBC session or another recording? 2) Where/on which anthology would you put (He was alright) Song for Marc?
cheers

seth will have to chime in on question 1, but i'd guess one of the BBC versions.
i don't think Song For Marc would feature as it's essentially a demo for Lady Stardust and i think unofficial demos of officially released songs are outside of his remit for these sets. one of many reasons why i wouldn't expect any two fan-assembled sets to be identical. no wonder we gripe at omissions on official releases!
