Not sure if this has ever been mentioned here, but please delete if it has.
regarding Jean Genie
So here is something to think about, Jean Genie was stopped from getting to number 1 in the UK by Jimmy Osmond with "long haired lover from Liverpool" (But I digress)
Then The sweet had a number 1 song later on called "Blockbuster" which had the same rift as "Jean Genie," Bowie was upset initially but then congratulated the guys and I suspect he didnt sue because he stole the rift from off the Yardbirds "Im a man" who coincidentally stole the rift from off Muddy waters "I'm a man (Manish Boy") which was also the name of one of Bowies earlier groups. In the bottom corner of the youtube video screen click on the "gear" icon and speed up the song to 1.5 times on the Muddy waters "Im a man"

Years ago, back in the mid to late 1970s, a disc jockey on 2JJ in Sydney played I'm A Man and several other tracks with that similar riff one after the other.
The DJ was Frankie J Holden, lead singer for a band named "Ol' 55". He was actually stepping in for the regular DJ who was absent from the 9.00AM to midday time slot on that station for an entire week if memory serves me well. It may have been about 1977 or perhaps a little earlier.
It was good old fashioned AM radio at that time. I remember Frankie cracked a number of jokes that would not be considered suitable for broadcast today.
