So this is a quote from page 213 of the 'Spider With The Platinum Hair' book about Mick Ronson:

Quote:
An unofficial eight-disc David Bowie (audio) set culled directly from the Ryko vaults surfaced. The first two discs showcase Ronson by featuring alternate versions to the original tracks ranging from several versions of 'Memory Of A Free Festival' to 'Hang On To Yourself' with different lyrics. The multiple versions of 'Life On Mars?' are a treat with a favourite being the one you can hear Mick instructing Rick Wakeman on how to play the piano parts. There are alternate versions of 'The Supermen', 'Song For Bob Dylan ' and 'The Bewlay Brothers' and tracking sessions (multiple takes) of 'Star' one including different lyrics.although this set is still considered rare and difficult to find, it is certainly worth its weight in gold.

Does anyone know anything about this? Is this the holy grail of Bowie outtakes or is this this book's version of 'The Missing Link' or 'The Visitor'? :)

I suspect they have paid an homage to Roy Carr and Charles Shaar Murray's 'An Illustrated Record".
If this set existed we would surely know about it, and if the tracks even existed then I would imagine word of them would have leaked out by now.

10/10 for inventiveness, minus several million for accuracy i'd suggest.

Nope but that's a nice piece of history : "Mick instructing Rick Wakeman on how to play the piano parts."

A book relying almost entirely on third parties and email with the exception of perhaps Ian Hunter, Suzi R Joe Elliot and Mick Rossi. I'd wager the above quoted extract came from a friend of a friend of a friend of a......

A missed opportunity to create something of interest, and I say that as someone who received their fair share of mentions therein.
