There's a new CNN documentary on Luther Vandross, called 'Luther - Never Too Much'. Of course it has some Bowie Alumnbi speaking - Carlos Alomar, Robin Clark and Ava Cherry.
The best thing is that it has some unseen YA studio footage part of which (Right) has been used before - the b/w footage with Bowie sitting against a will. The new footage has them recording a take of YA and Bowie singing along with a song I didn't recognize (maybe some Astronettes thing? - haven't had the time to investigate further.)
The other two have leaked and it's obviously not either of those.

I've seen this footage in other documentaries. This version of Young Americans is the same as the one on Sigma Reel.
It's really nothing new.

Thank you for sharing Maarten, I'm really looking forward to watching this. It'll be the first time my wife, a Luther Vandross fan, and I will have something in common musically - you're bringing people together

Ah that's interesting - think that's mentioned in Starman as Ava's solo number in the Soul Tour shows? Is there a live version out there?

I don't know I asked her directly but she doesn't like to give details about these songs. It was difficult but at least the name of the song, according to her, is this.

The documentary is now available to watch in the UK on the 'Firestick', apparently the Young Americans segment lasts for around 5 minutes.
Update - 30th January - for the rest of us

Not sure if this is the Luther doc footage, but it's pretty cool anyhow...
