I realised that the nature of the three Various EP promos don't seem (sorry if I have missed it) to have been mentioned on the site especially as they are unique as releases.
Phonogram – 1006 ASC (Space Oddity)
Phonogram – 1012 ASC (Ragazzo)
Phonogram – 1013 ASC (Ragazzo)
All have a rather well spoken Italian female announcer giving both the title of the Song and the Artist during the playing of the full Mono single. In an instrumental section the volume reduces as she makes her announcement.
There is a lot of evidence from each of the Discogs entries that these were to be used in the theatre of the Cinema as an advertisement.
This one is interesting (puts two together) however, the guess on dates the records were made is probably out and its just the later delivery date to a cinema.
https://www.discogs.com/r ... s-UntitledThe promo instructions say
"Note for Messrs. operators. Continuous discs must be played in their entirety including any spoken part. We ask you to comply with the above in order to avoid complaints from the record companies that exercise continuous control in the cinemas. Thank you"
Space Oddity is surrounded by other 69 releases and Ragazzo would have been the fresh release in January70 on 1012 ASC followed by the other releases from late 69 that it was still worth promoting.
Its interesting that Ragazzo gets another outing on the next promo release but this time it's at the back end with newer releases coming first.
I'm including a picture of the one I own (yes wrong sleeve) and realise I should have posted this some years ago.
Just thought it might be of interest as other promos with DJ interceding are better documented.
It's also nice as this is the only 7" showing the correct length of the original release.
