Lars and other LD collectors, I have set up a basic skeleton in which you can post your titles. I propose to use the same structure as used in the Vinyl discography, so titles can be entered by category and then by country. I suppose that the template Alan created for the vinyls can also be used for the videos; if not, please let me know.
I have anticipated the next request also to be able to post video tapes and DVDs If there's no interest in such a forum, we can drop those and restrict it to just Laser discs.
I have never been a collector of videos myself, so I have little idea of what's available other than what's already listed in the IdbD. This in particular applies to motion pictures and compilations. If you spot a mistake (missing category, missing title, wrong chronology), feel free to reply to this sticky, so Maarten or I can append the forum accordingly.
Enjoy!

Sounds fantastic Ruud!
The future idea of video and DVD listings for me would be superb, as you know im working on a website of all known Bowie footage which is going to be massive so whatever I can do to help I will as always regarding official releases of course.
Excellent news Ruud

the videography (i don't think video discography works as a title, especially if video tapes are included - no "disc") needs a simpler template than the vinyl or cd templates IMO. i think we need to keep it basic as this isn't an area that has the variations of vinyl or CD, so things like barcodes are superfluous for most titles.
i'd be happy with title/country/cat no/year of issue/inserts and extras. i don't know how to set this up unfortunately.
also, "motion pictures"? this should be called "films-drama" or "movies-drama", not least because we have a "concert" section where Ziggy Stardust - The Motion Picture currently resides, although i was technically a cinema release. ditto Ricochet which is a tour documentary and was shown in cinemas.

The name of the video subforum has been modified to 'Videography', the 'Motion Pictures' subforum has been renamed 'Movies (drama)'.

thanks for that. the template is still unnecessarily detailed i think... and it doesn't always work, see my Labyrinth entry. the order of elements doesn't correspond with what's entered (i.e. Packaging/Origin/Artwork have been shuffled). a dedicated template would seem to be required.

I know it says "(Dramas)" in the movie section, but how about Zoolander? Bowie had an uncredited role that was quite humorous (this was a comedy, of course). If Yellowbeard is included, I would think Zoolander should be, as well.
Also what about TV shows? SpongeBob SquarePants comes to mind.
Just trying to think of everything.

By using a filtering mechanism called 'taste' of course
How about Christiane F.? Not sure if that's a movie role or a concert performance!
For TV performances, there's also Baal and The Hunger series. Not sure how deep we want to go, though, when it comes to television. Also, was Baal ever officially released?
Do we also want to get into documentaries? That might be too much.

no official Baal. i think we should include documentaries but it might be a bit of a headache separating licensed from unlicensed and re-releases of the same stuff in re-edited form (inside the spiders etc).
